Rocky Road SLICE
Even today, the origin of Rocky Road remains a subject for debate. Some say it was created by an American confectionery company but others claim it was the brainchild of an Australian entrepreneur.
We're claiming it! Rocky Road is an Australian icon!
Rocky Road emerged in Australia around 1853 (we've not been making it that long!) as a way to salvage ingredients past their prime dates after the long trip from the UK. Even in 1800's, people knew that everything tastes heavenly when covered in chocolate!
The name “Rocky Road” is said to have derived from the arduous path that Australian gold field workers traversed daily for their commute. This is (of course!) reflected in the uneven texture (some say ugly!) of this irresistible treat.
Wherever Rocky Road originated, we really don't mind - the combination of chocolate, coconut and marshmallow - is a winner and one of our best-selling SLICE!
